Have you ever been driven mad by your iPhone reminding you that you received a text message multiple times?
To stop this annoyance, open Settings, then select Messages, and finally slide the Repeat Alert to the Off position.
UPDATE (04/15/2011): On iOS 4.3, this has changed slightly. Continue on to Messages, but instead of selecting Repeat Alert, tap Play Alert Tone followed by the Once option.
That’s great! No more annoying beeps!

Wow. Wouldn’t it be great if the iPhone actually had this feature?! The ability to turn off repeating alerts?! Of course, that would require that the iPhone had the ability to turn ON repeating alerts, which it doesn’t. One of the worst aspects of the iPhone – no repeating alerts for anything. If you happen to miss it, then forget it.

Yes, yes, I know you can repeat an alert up to ten times. Big whoop. At 5 minute intervals, that’s only about an hour. I don’t know about you, but I am often away from my phone for longer than that. There is a very simply solution here. Allow repeating aerts until you turn off the alert! Easy! Like every other smart phone out there!
