Copy file and change extension to M4R.

Create temp copy, with M4R extension.

Copy the file shown in finder to your temp work area, so that the iTunes original is unmodified. Change the temp copy extenstion to M4R.

Show track in Finder.
Attach iPhone, select Ringtones.
